Whether they take place in real life venues or designated spaces, Laurent Pichaud’s projects are always initiated in response to a context. Alert to the specificities and use of the selected environment, Pichaud designs his choreography from experiments he carries out on site. At far°, the artist expressed the wish to move into a gymnastics hall situated in the heart of the city, on the grounds of the former secondary school. A multipurpose and collective venue, the gymnastics hall takes on several roles: a place to play, learn and get together, or to take shelter in the event of a disaster. Following a call for participation to Nyon’s inhabitants and refugees recently arrived in Switzerland, a local temporary team got together. Through the performance, participants experienced the unknown aspects that the group shared in common and the group’s momentum: a place may well be fixed and inert, nevertheless communities are always in constant movement.
