…en jumelle · la frairie

The word frairie, in which one hears suggestions of the French words for prairie and for brother/sisterhood, once designated popular festivities dedicated to entertainment and good food. This beautiful Old French word is also the title of a constellation of performative projects presented by Laurent Pichaud and the artistic team of ...en jumelle.
This constellation expands over three days, bringing together traces and experiences of twinning which the artists have accumulated since 2019, in the district of Nyon, in France, and beyond. Whether through the music of a choir or a brass band, on a long walk or onboard a minibus, over a gastronomic meal, or by mail, ...en jumelle has invented a multiplicity of artistic practices. Conducted in collaboration with and proximity to local inhabitants – and involving strangers from all corners of the globe – the project has explored local and distant geographical and cultural landscapes. Re-invoked, renewed, in a word “festively” re-played, this sensory process of collective fabrication will invent for this frairie another way to extend our initial process of twinning: connecting here and now to there and now.

The three-day programme includes choreographed performance, burlesque games, a walk with your feet in the water, and other enjoyments!
