Initiated by Nada Gambier, and created with the complicity of Mark Etchells and Thomas Kasebacher, The Voice of a City is a project that focuses on subjective perceptions of everyday life in Europe, combining fiction with reality, memory with interpretation, and bringing together personal and collective stories. Between 2015 and 2018 the trio travelled to Tbilisi, Athens, Lille, Brussels and Zagreb, among other cities. In each of them, the artists stayed sometimes for up to a month, in order to carry out their investigations by meeting a wide range of people to discuss their vision of the world. In its performative form, The Voice of a City invites the audience to join the three artists around a large table to discover some of the stories they have collected. As a listener, you will follow a journey that will not only enable you to familiarise yourself with the people and their stories, but also to reflect on notions such as belonging, change, well-being and social inequalities in Europe and beyond.
