SKIN presents a poetic choreographic tableau of the way we connect with others, exploring the potential of the skin as both a protective barrier and a point of contact. Drawing on feminist author Ursula K. Le Guin’s reflections on sea amoebas (single-celled living beings that are malleable, expansive and formless, capable of asexual reproduction), SKIN questions the limits of our own physicality, which sometimes distances itself from, and sometimes merges with that of others. In this unique universe, a multitude of experiences coexist, as the bodies of Renae Shadler and Roland Walter embrace, merge and seem to exchange parts of themselves, giving rise to a shared body language inspired by anemones, fluids and earth surfaces.
