Thirteen years after his first appearance at far° with Cédric Andrieux, Jérôme Bel presents a new opus of his dance portraits. This time he presents the “auto-bio-choreo-graphy” of Chinese dancer, performer and choreographer Xiao Ke. In line with his ecological convictions, Bel organised the rehearsals and discussions remotely. For the European version, he has broken with the classical conventions of performance by creating a new visual and space-time format. Alone on stage, he contextualises and translates the words of Xiao Ke, whose voice and virtuoso movements are broadcast live on a large screen from her flat in Shanghai. The dancer shares her unique artistic career in the tumult of a country that has been in upheaval for more than 40 years, shaken by historical, cultural, economic and social revolutions. Her words take us on an epic journey through the encounters that have influenced her career, right up to the choices she has made. A stimulating reflection on the challenges of being a dance artist in a rapidly changing world.
