bivouacs – 8 to 18 august 2024

The 40th edition of the far° festival des arts vivants, to be held in Nyon from 8 to 18 August 2024, invites audiences to experience a wide range of artistic proposals – theatre, dance, performances, exhibitions, circus, concerts – brought together under the title “bivouacs”.

If the term finds its etymology in the lexicon of the guard, the projects in this new opus offer a sensitive approach to the ephemeral camp, calling for poetic diversion and reflection on care, watchfulness and the power of gathering. As scouts, the artists, from Switzerland and elsewhere, invite audiences to join them and take on their role as sentinels in the frenetic whirlwind of a world in which inequalities are ever more glaring.

The projects conceived for this 40th anniversary are shelters, refuges, places of passage and collective breathing space in which art becomes an act of resistance, a fertile breeding ground for hope and conviction. These necessary stops to (re)think together about our way of being in the world are like claims on space – indoors and outdoors – with a strong ecological, social and human imprint. They resonate as attempts at emancipation, rebirth, and the aspiration to unite our impulses in order to regain our strength and dance together.
