With boundless generosity, Camilla Parini lays a few fragments of her life in our hands in the intimacy of her show je suisse (or not)designed for “one person at a time”The Ticino-based artist tenderly accompanies us through photographic memories of her childhood, from which emerge a whirlwind of questions about the notion of family, identity and belonging. Parini describes herself as an introvert, but she communicates in a different way, through a sensitive “elsewhere”, linked to affects, testimony and traces; she embraces us with gentleness and humility to open up the space for an authentic and mesmerising listening experience.

“I was born in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland and most of the time, to communicate with the rest of Switzerland, I have to speak a language that isn’t my own – a communication issue that goes from personal to domestic, from domestic to national, and vice versa.”
