Coline Bardin and Émeric Cheseaux grew up in a rural and agricultural environment, she in Isère and he in Valais. In their solo, they reflect on their childhood and the living and working conditions of their respective families. The result is a humorous reflection on the fragmentation of identity experienced by these “young people” who have left the countryside for the city.
La révérence
La Révérence retraces the self-fictional odyssey of Émeric Cheseaux. Filled with humour and self-deprecation, the show paints a kaleidoscopic portrait of the author’s “people” and tenderly depicts the rural environment of Valais. Using brilliant impersonations, Cheseaux borrows the voice of “others” to explore issues such as virility, separation, politics, faith, alcohol and inheritance. A touching performance that is bound to make you laugh.
La Mâtrue – Adieu à la Ferme
Coline Bardin is the youngest daughter of a farming couple. Now an actress, she grew up on a farm and remains attached to it, even though her professional life has taken her far from the pastures. One day, her parents told her they were going to sell their farm. It was a shock that only the theatre could transcend. With love, humour and lucidity, Bardin takes to the stage to evoke the world from which she comes: the farming community. Wearing green overalls and rubber boots, she conjures up her memories, which are embodied in a gallery of colourful characters. Passionate, fascinating but tired, they express the nobility of the profession while keeping nothing of its harshness. A funny, sensitive portrait, a personal story in which the murmurings of a larger world clearly resonate.
