Schools and higher education establishments
far° works in schools, both primary and secondary, and in higher education establishments. The aim is to offer pupils and students an experiential approach to the performing arts. These initiatives take the form of workshops, discussions, or the presence of an artist who is invited from time to time to take part in the visual arts courses in order to present his or her practice and work with the students. While these invitations can sometimes give rise to concrete projects, their main aim is to highlight artistic disciplines that are rarely mentioned in school curricula.
2026
- Marion Baeryswil and D.C.P presented À l’Aune at EPFL – École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne on the 11th of May 2026 as part of a collaboration with the festival Les Culturelles.
- In the same spirit as in 2024 and in collaboration with the Nyon-Marens Secondary School, Mbaye Diop ran a creative workshop in four classes in spring 2026. He invited the students to create a short animated film using footage shot in class. With the participation of their art teacher François Chessex and the team, their collaboration resulted in a colourful short film: an animated film that is by turns mischievous, striking and joyful.
2025
- Bianca Berger presented Bi-tà at the EPFL – École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne – on the 20th of May 2025 as part of a collaboration with the festival Les Culturelles organised by the EPFL’s Collège des Humanités.
2024
- Sara Leghissa presented the performance Muscles at the EPFL – École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne on 21 May 2024 as part of a collaboration with the festival Les Culturelles organised by the EPFL’s Collège des Humanités.
- In collaboration with the Gymnase de Nyon, visual artist and performer Mbaye Diop ran a creative workshop in two classes in October 2024. He invited the pupils to make a short animated film using footage shot in class. Working in small groups, the pupils choreographed and then filmed a movement lasting a few seconds. These images, sequenced into a series of photographs, were then used as the basis for drawings. Each group chose its own technique and method for working together. The drawings were then photographed and assembled to give life to this collective and colourful short film.
- Marion Thomas introduced a class of students from the Gymnase de Nyon to the art of directing and performance. Drawing inspiration from her own creative process developed for Faire troupeau, she invited the students to work in small groups to imagine situations in which it feels good to be together with lots of people. The students then created a set design and a short story, set against the backdrop of a football match or a large family meal. The workshop concluded with the presentation of the projects to the other students, who acted as both the audience and the participants in these small, participatory performances. This workshop was organised in collaboration with the Gymnase de Nyon.
2023
- Anne-Lise Tacheron gave three workshops in autumn 2023 in a class at the Gymnase de Nyon. She invited the pupils to create living sculptures, at the crossroads of art history, visual arts and performance, while reflecting on the notion of cultural reference. Working in small groups, the students created living paintings inspired by well-known images.
- Sara Manente (choreographer, researcher) has devoted several projects to the interdependencies linking living beings (human and non-human), drawing inspiration from mycelium. Together with her colleagues, she gave a talk at EPFL in May 2023 as part of the festival Les Culturelles. She presented RUINED, a two-day workshop combining architecture, mycology and the arts, which she designed and led with Deborah Robbiano (multidisciplinary artist) and Sébastien Tripod (architect). Then, on 15 May, she performed her choreographed piece MOLDING alongside Gitte Hendrikx and Macos Simões.
