In response to the violence of the world surrounding us, Gesture of Care: Sihr is an ode to care and tenderness. The piece revolves around a body-care ritual using ancestral medicinal herbs. The Arabic word sihr means “magic”, “charm” or “sorcery”. Within the framework of the performance, it prepares the audience for a multisensory experience.
To smell, touch, see and taste while listening to the stories of healers speaking about love, grief and their relationship to nature, this is the shared experience Lebanese artist Petra Serhal invites us into.
