“Welcome to chicken paradise!” With these words, Danae Dario enthusiastically addresses the audience at the very beginning of her performance, inviting them into a world she shares with Luce or Roussette, her magnificent red hens.

La chaire des poules (The Flesh of Hens) tells the story of a woman and a hen, both bruised by the world, who decide to withdraw from it together. Woman or “chick”? Ultimately, what truly distinguishes the two protagonists of this story? Or, on the contrary, what brings them together? It is precisely within these semantic ambiguities that the performer playfully navigates, in a piece filled with humour and sensitivity against a backdrop of sometimes harsh realities.

This performance follows the text written by Danae Dario as part of the 2024 Récits du Futur programme, of which she was the recipient.
